 Bernard
Leslie grew up in Placencia. At an early age his love for the
sea became apparent and he began to earn his living from it
as a commercial fisherman. It didn’t take long for Bernard
to become aware that people from far and wide traveled to his
beloved home of Placencia, Belize to experience the mysteries
of the sea and what better way for him to share his knowledge
and his love for it with them then to become a tour guide.
Around the same time he turned to tourism, Bernard’s heart
was captured by a beautiful young woman named Lavern Parham
who had come to Placencia, from Punta Gorda, Belize, to work
at one of the area’s resorts. Bernard and Lavern’s
courtship eventually resulted into a loving home and three beautiful
children - two sons and a daughter. After the birth of their
oldest child the pair decided that they would strike out on
their own by starting their own tour operation – Ocean
Motion Guide Services. The going was hard at first; Placencia
was still a “new” tourist destination but Bernard
and Lavern’s hard work and dedication made it possible
for them to make their business a success.
Over the years Placencia has grown and the tourism industry
has thrived and Ocean Motion has followed Placencia’s
lead. Ocean Motion Real Estate was soon created. Bernard and
Lavern met several people through the years of providing tours
that wanted to return to Placencia to realize the dream of
living in the Caribbean. Who better to help those in search
